What Letter is My Life Writing?

Daily Reading: Leviticus 17, Psalm 107, 2 Corinthians 3, Proverbs 17

Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, like some people, letters of recommendation to you or from you? You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone. You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.

2 Corinthians 3:1-3

Apologetics is defined as the theological discipline or formal practice of defending a belief system—most commonly Christianity—through rational argument, evidence, and systematic discourse.

There is a great deal of value in understanding scripture deeply, researching the historical justification for Jesus being a real historical figure and not simply a religious fairy tale, and being able to defend your faith as a Christian.

It is important that we know what the Bible says about various issues and are prepared to offer a defense of right and wrong.

However, very rarely in my life have I seen these two things be what brings another person to saving faith in Jesus.

We generally don’t “win the debate” with someone, and as a result they decide to turn their life over to Christ.

When we are able to make an impact for the kingdom of God in the lives of others, it is most often as a result of sharing the story of our lives and the miraculous work Jesus has done in them.

It is the result of our lives being as Paul beautifully put it today:

“…a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.”

It got me thinking today, what letter is my life currently writing?

Powerful question, and powerful reminder.

Every single day we have the ability, as followers of Jesus, to write not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God on the hearts of people in our lives.

I want the letter my life writes to be a powerful one!

Daily Reflection & Dialogue

If someone in your life took time to journal “the letter your life is writing” in their eyes, what story would they write?
