The Earth Sings of God’s Glory

Daily Reading: Leviticus 8, Psalm 98, 1 Corinthians 10, Proverbs 8

Sing to the Lord a new song,
for he has done marvelous things;
his right hand and his holy arm
have worked salvation for him.

The Lord has made his salvation known
and revealed his righteousness to the nations.

He has remembered his love
and his faithfulness to Israel;
all the ends of the earth have seen
the salvation of our God.

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth,
burst into jubilant song with music;

make music to the Lord with the harp,
with the harp and the sound of singing,

with trumpets and the blast of the ram’s horn—
shout for joy before the Lord, the King.

Let the sea resound, and everything in it,
the world, and all who live in it.

Let the rivers clap their hands,
let the mountains sing together for joy;

let them sing before the Lord,
for he comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness
and the peoples with equity.

Psalm 98

I love Psalm 98.

It is so important to guard this space in our lives to just sit back and marvel at God’s creation.

To slow down and bring our heart to a place of intentional worship.

To sing a new song, shout for joy, and burst into a jubilant song with music.

I love the visualization in the second half of Psalm 98.

When you look at the glory of God’s creation through the lens of nature as a form of worship, it is hard to not see it all around you.

Watching the waves of the seas crashing on the shore.

Sitting on the bank of the river, as the water flows by.

Taking in the majesty of a mountain range.

When I spend this type of time in nature, I always feel closer to God. The earth truly does sing of God’s glory.

So, next time you are feeling distant from God’s glory, or your heart is struggling to assume a posture of worship, spend some intentional time outdoors. Leave your phone behind, and just be present.

Notice the beauty in the simple things.

God’s glory is all around us. We just need to take the time to slow down and appreciate it!
